Within Scandinavia is one of the most charming countries, Denmark. Known for friendly people, Viking history and great scenery – you’ll certainly fall in love with the country as many people have before. It is considered one of the oldest kingdom’s in the entire world. The current queen is supposedly descendent of king Harald Bluetooth who was the king when Denmark was just a small fishing village. Denmark is home to a large peninsula and many islands known as the Danish Archipelago. It rests upon the border of the Baltic and North Sea, which provide plenty of fresh seafood and beaches. Now, it is home to major companies like Lego. So, if you can – you’ll certainly want to bring away some of the world famous toys right from the source!

    Recommended drives in Denmark

    Fjords & Islands:
Exploring the fjords and their islands is quite a popular activity in Denmark. Statistically, there are over 400 islands and some are inhabited but some are not. The Limfjord islands are 55 million years old and great for one-of-a-kind photographs. They have been used for a variety of different things ever since the Vikings wandered them years ago. All around the Limfjord Islands are massive trees and clay cliffs that will help build the imagination even more! Another popular island is Læsø that has unspoiled nature and beaches.

    Copenhagen:
Most Danes call this home, the capital city of Denmark is a former 11th-century fishing village. However, it has grown a lot since it’s days of being just for fishing. Now, it has around 500,000 inviting Danish residents and over 9 different districts offering something unique to make up Copenhagen. If you love beaches, this city has it. Amusement parks? Yep. Harbour baths? Got two of them. Malls and fleamarkets? Check! You see, Copenhagen provides it all. It is a lovely charming city. Don’t forget to stop and see the Tivoli Gardens!

    Kronborg Slot:
The 1420’s saw the building of a toll house by King Erik of Pomerania. Shortly after, it was caught on fire and expanded after being destroyed. What once housed the King and Queen are now a beautiful place to reflect on ancient history. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is truly unique. It houses royal apartments to seedy creepy dungeons. Now, it is used for the great view and often for picnics by locals!

    Best time to visit Denmark

Due to its clement weather, Denmark  should be visited in the summer months , if off peak the prices will be cheaper.

    Driving in Denmark

Denmark has very similar rules to most EU Countries. You travel in the right lane and pass on the left! However, you really need to watch out for the massive amounts of cyclists. Denmark is known to have many cycling related accidents. Speed limits are strictly enforced at 50 km/h in towns, 80 km/h outside towns, and 130 km/h on major 4 lane highways. A good amount of jail time given to those who decide to drink and drive!

    Speed limits:
    Urban areas: 50kph.
    National highways: 90kph.
    Motorways: 120kph.
