The Dacia Dokker Van or MPV ?
Dacia which has been part of Renault since 1999 has launched its first purpose-built light van, the Dokker. Based on the Lodgy MPV platform the Dokker comes as a two-seater Van or with a glazed rear capable of seating five.
In comparison to the Kangoo, the Dokker is both longer and narrower, but its load area is bigger with a maximum load length of 1,901mm and 1,130mm between the wheel boxes. The key to making it multipurpose is the “Easy Seat” system which allows the rear passenger seats to be easily removed turning it into a roomy work van.
Renault will launch this in Europe but unfortunately as of the moment they have no plans to offer it in the UK. This is a shame as a niche market does exist for a budget van that can double as an MPV a space that was previously filled by the popular Citroën C15. In addition, the Dacia brand is unrivaled when it comes to offering practical extra features at sensible prices.
If you are off to Europe this summer look out for the budget Dacia Dokker and see what we are missing in the UK.
