Doncaster Driving Essentials

Road access

Both the A1(M) and the M18 skirt the town, giving it access to Newcastle upon Tyne to the north and London to the south, as well as northeast to the M62 and southwest to the M1. The M1 then connects the town to Sheffield, Nottingham, Hull, Manchester and Liverpool. The A638 connects Doncaster to Dewsbury and the A1.

Driving conditions

Routes around Doncaster are all major motorways or of the same standard. The city is quite small and sees little traffic with the exception of the roads near the Doncaster Railway Station, where some congestion is sometimes heavy at peak times.

Parking

There is a great secure car park on Chappell Drive just outside of the town centre, as well as plenty of others. On-street parking is also available throughout Doncaster, but there is usually a maximum limit to the time you can stay.
